A Century of Quality and Innovation Thorogood's origins date back to 1892, when Albert H. Weinbrenner, at the age of 27, opened a cobblery in Milwaukee with his partner, Joseph Peffer, serving the "Jobbing" trades. Over the decades, the company has evolved, introducing innovative features like the "Job-fitted" concept in 1917 and becoming a major contributor of boots to the U.S. Army during World War I.

In 1938, the company took its first steps into safety footwear production, and in 1964, they introduced the iconic Hike n' Camp boot, which became the company's best-selling boot of all time and is still available in its original design today.

In 2000, Weinbrenner employees took ownership of the company through an ESOP, and in 2022, Thorogood celebrated 130 years as a company, opening a new factory in Merrill, WI and launching their first western wear product, the Square Toe Wellingtons.
