Thorogood's MAXWEAR WEDGE work boots are designed with quality and durability in mind. Crafted from 100% full-grain leather, these American-made boots are built to last through demanding jobs.
The MAXWEAR WEDGE outsole is the standout feature, flexing better than traditional work boot soles to absorb impacts and protect your feet and ankles. This slip-resistant outsole keeps you steady on flat, wet, oily, and loose gravel surfaces, meeting ASTM F3445-21 standards.
For electrical hazard protection, these boots also meet ASTM F2892-18 safety standards. The removable ultimate shock absorption footbed, made of dual-density polyurethane, further enhances comfort by absorbing impacts and wicking away moisture.
The Goodyear storm welt construction provides superior wear resistance and a moisture seal between the upper and midsole, ensuring these boots are dependable and long-lasting.
Available in a range of colors, including tobacco brown, Trail Crazyhorse brown, black with ivory sole, and black with black sole, these moc toe, non-safety toe boots offer a classic, comfortable design.
Thorogood's history dates back to 1892, when Albert H. Weinbrenner, at the age of 27, opened a cobblery in Milwaukee with partner Joseph Peffer, serving the "Jobbing" trades. The company, now known as Thorogood, has a rich heritage of innovation and quality craftsmanship.
In 1916, Thorogood printed its first catalog and became known for having more leather cutting machines than any other company in the U.S. The "Job-fitted" concept was introduced in 1917, and the company became a major contributor of boots to the U.S. Army during World War I.
Thorogood took its first steps into safety footwear production in 1938 and continued to evolve, producing combat and dress styles for the military during World War II. The company's relationship with the International Boot & Shoe Workers Union has remained strong since the workers organized in 1943.
The iconic Hike n' Camp boot, introduced in 1964, became the company's best-selling boot and is still available in its original design today. Thorogood has continued to innovate, with the ThoroGard division creating high-tech occupational safety footwear and the 1892 Heritage line of handcrafted, lifestyle boots.
In 2000, Thorogood employees took ownership of the company through an ESOP, and the company continues to demonstrate a renewed commitment to upgrading and improving its facilities, equipment, and manufacturing methods. Thorogood celebrates its 130th anniversary in 2023, with plans to expand its product offerings and gain even more popularity.
