Thorogood American Heritage 8 Steel Toe Work Boots for Men

Thorogood is a brand with a rich history, tracing its roots back to 1892 when Albert H. Weinbrenner, at the age of 27, opened a cobblery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, serving the "Jobbing" trades alongside his partner, Joseph Peffer. In 1900, the Albert H. Weinbrenner Co. was formed, and the company's first catalog was printed in 1916, showcasing more leather cutting machines than any other in the United States.

The company's "Job-fitted" concept was introduced in 1917, and Thorogood became a major contributor of boots to the U.S. Army during World War I. In 1938, the company took its first steps into safety footwear production, and in 1942, it celebrated 50 years in business, converting to all-military footwear for the duration of World War II, producing combat and dress styles that also became popular with civilians.

In 1943, the company's workers organized under the International Boot & Shoe Workers Union, and the outstanding relationship between management and workers has continued to this day. The iconic Hike n' Camp boot, featuring a wedge sole and moccasin-style stitching, was introduced in 1964 and became the company's best-selling boot of all time, still available in its original design.

The company was purchased by a local group, including six employees, in 1988, and the "ThoroGard" division was created, featuring high-tech occupational safety footwear. In 2000, Thorogood employees took ownership of the company through an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan), and in 2001, the company donated 300 pairs of durable work boots to Ground Zero in the aftermath of the September 11 terror attacks, with another 200 pairs following shortly after.

The 1892 Heritage line of handcrafted, lifestyle boots was introduced in 2014, built on the iconic No. 60 last, and in 2017, Thorogood celebrated its 125th Anniversary, demonstrating a renewed commitment to upgrading and improving its domestic facilities, machines, equipment, manufacturing methods, and computer systems/programs. In 2022, Thorogood celebrated 130 years as a company, with the opening of a new factory in Merrill, Wisconsin, and the launch of its first western wear product, the Thorogood Square Toe Wellingtons.

Today, Thorogood continues to expand its product offerings, with sales increasing as the brand gains popularity and introduces many new styles, demonstrating its enduring commitment to quality, innovation, and the American heritage that has defined the company since its inception.
