Shop / thorogood 1957 work boots for men
Thorogood's American plants, where expert craftsmen and women have manufactured the product using globally sourced components. The "worked" design of the 1957 series steel toe boots makes them ideal for a range of outdoor and industrial applications, such as for carpenters, construction workers, crane operators, electricians, HVAC technicians, iron workers, millwrights, plumbers, and welders who require comfortable safety protection for their toes while performing demanding work.
Crafted from high-quality full-grain leather in the Thorogood work boot design, the Trail Crazyhorse brown (804-3898) boots are both comfortable and durable, able to withstand punishing work. A special wax has been applied to the Crazyhorse Trail boots, giving them a vintage Old West look.
These waterproof boots for men feature a reinforced tab to keep water and liquids at bay, while the moisture-absorbing inner lining wicks sweat away, allowing the wearer to work without worry. The steel toe protects the feet from impacts and compression hazards on the job site, and the lightweight, flexible design of the 1957 series makes these one of the best safety boots for men with hazardous occupations. The boots comply with ASTM F2413-18 safety standards.
The MAXWEAR 90 traction sole with heel flexes better than other work boot soles, absorbing impacts and protecting the feet and ankles while working on challenging surfaces, keeping the wearer stable on loose gravel and wet, oily surfaces. These boots meet ASTM F3445-21 anti-slip resistance standards.
The brand's history dates back to 1892, when 27-year-old Albert H. Weinbrenner, with partner Joseph Peffer, opened a cobblery in Milwaukee to serve the "Jobbing" trades. The Albert H. Weinbrenner Co. was formed in 1900, and the company printed its first catalog in 1916, boasting more leather cutting machines than any other in the U.S. The "Job-fitted" concept was introduced in 1917, and Weinbrenner became a major contributor of boots to the U.S. Army during World War I.
In 1938, the company took its first steps into safety footwear production, and in 1942, during World War II, it converted to producing only military footwear, both combat and dress styles, which also became popular with civilians. The company's workers organized under the International Boot & Shoe Workers Union in 1943, but management and workers maintained an outstanding relationship that continues to this day.
The Official Boy Scout Boot, the Hike n' Camp, was introduced in 1964 with a wedge sole and moccasin-style stitching, and it became the company's best-selling boot of all time, still available in its original design. In 1988, the company was purchased by a local group, including six employees, and the "ThoroGard" division was created, featuring high-tech occupational safety footwear.
