Weinbrenner, a company with a rich heritage dating back to 1892, has a storied history of crafting high-quality footwear. At the age of 27, Albert H. Weinbrenner, the company's founder, opened a cobblery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with his partner, Joseph Peffer, serving the "Jobbing" trades. In 1900, the Albert H. Weinbrenner Co. was officially formed.
The company's first catalog was printed in 1916, and at that time, it had more leather cutting machines than any other in the United States. The "Job-fitted" concept was introduced in 1917, and Weinbrenner became a major contributor of boots to the U.S. Army during World War I.
In 1938, the company took its first steps into safety footwear production, and in 1942, it celebrated 50 years in business. During World War II, the company converted to producing all-military footwear, including combat and dress styles, which also became popular with civilians.
In 1943, the company's workers organized under the International Boot & Shoe Workers Union, but the management and workers maintained an outstanding relationship that continues to this day. In 1964, the company introduced the Official Boy Scout Boot, the Hike n' Camp, which featured a wedge sole and moccasin-style stitching, and it became the company's best-selling boot of all time.
In 1988, the company was purchased by a local group, including six employees, and the "ThoroGard" division was created, featuring high-tech occupational safety footwear. Weinbrenner celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1992 with the theme "A Century of Lasting Quality."
In 2000, Weinbrenner employees took ownership of the company through an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan). Shortly after the September 11, 2001, terror attacks, the company donated 300 pairs of durable work boots to Ground Zero, with an additional 200 pairs following.
The 1892 Heritage line of handcrafted, lifestyle boots was introduced in 2014, built on the iconic No. 60 last. In 2017, Weinbrenner celebrated its 125th Anniversary, demonstrating a renewed commitment to upgrading and improving its domestic facilities, machines, equipment, manufacturing methods, and computer systems/programs.
In 2022, Weinbrenner celebrated 130 years as a company, with the opening of a new factory in Merrill, Wisconsin, and the launch of the first western wear product, Thorogood's Square Toe Wellingtons. As sales continue to increase and Thorogood's popularity expands, the company is preparing to introduce many new styles on the horizon.
The company's product details are as follows: Sole material: Rubber; Shaft height: 8 Inches; Outer material: Leather; Closure type: Lace-Up. The boot form type is combat, the heel type is Flat, and the closure type is Lace-Up, with a Solid pattern type.
