The soles are designed with MAXWEAR WEDGE technology, which provides superior traction and flexibility compared to other work boot outsoles. This slip-resistant outsole helps keep you stable on flat, wet, and oily surfaces, as well as loose gravel. It also demonstrates enhanced durability over blown rubber outsoles.

These work boots meet the ASTM F3445-21 slip-resistance standards. Additionally, they comply with ASTM F2413-18 or ASTM F2892-18 Electrical Hazard safety standards, providing protection against electrical shocks. Thorogood's heritage dates back to 1892, when the company was founded in Milwaukee by Albert H. Weinbrenner. In 1917, the "Job-fitted" concept was introduced, and the company became a major supplier of boots to the U.S. Army during World War I.

The company diversified into safety footwear production in 1938 and continued to serve the military throughout World War II. In 1964, the iconic Hike n' Camp boot, featuring a wedge sole and moccasin-style stitching, was introduced and became the company's best-selling boot.

In 1988, the company was purchased by a local group, including six employees, and the "ThoroGard" division was created, focusing on high-tech occupational safety footwear. In 2000, Weinbrenner employees took ownership of the company through an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan).

Thorogood has demonstrated its commitment to supporting communities in times of need. After the September 11th attacks, the company quickly donated 300 pairs of durable work boots to Ground Zero, with an additional 200 pairs following shortly after.

Today, Thorogood continues to innovate and expand its product offerings. In 2014, the "1892 Heritage" line of handcrafted, lifestyle boots was introduced, built on the iconic No. 60 last. In 2017, the company celebrated its 125th anniversary, showcasing a renewed commitment to upgrading and improving its domestic facilities, machinery, equipment, manufacturing methods, and computer systems.

In 2022, Thorogood opened a new factory in Merrill, Wisconsin, and launched its first western wear product, the Square Toe Wellingtons. As the brand's popularity continues to grow, Thorogood is poised to introduce many new styles to meet the evolving needs of its customers.
